my 2yr old son has diarrhea and complaining about belly pain?

Gastroenteritis: With diarrhea you want to make sure that he is staying hydrated. Make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids with electrolytes (pedialyte, Gatorade etc). NO MILK OR JUICES until the diarrhea has resolved.

Common problem: This is usually due to one of many stomach viruses. The pain is from labor pain like cramps when the injured gut is pushing fluids around.Most last a few days and will respond to simple diet modification /plenty of fluids to maintain hydration. If worrisome have him seen, but this can resolve quickly. Most kids that age have it 2-3 times/yr.
