Yes: Increases in diastolic pressure (and systolic pressure) occur during periods of severe anxiety, as anxiety is tied to stress hormones that increase pressure within the cariocascular system. Even onset of mild/moderate situational anxiety can increase pressure, such as white coat syndrome (ie, BP goes up due to anxiety of being in a medical clinic).
