Pain = Problem.: You are having pain because there is something wrong with your ankle. Having said that, because there are a whole lot of conditions that have the potential to cause varying degree of pain in the ankle, you need to have it properly evaluated. Either an orthopedic surgeon of a podiatrist with ankle experience should do just fine.

2ND OPINION: You should see another doctor; either a podiatrist well trained in ankle problems or a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon. You may need new x-rays, or even an MRI. Regards, Dr. Latva

Residual Pain..: Hello, Usually after an ankle sprain, some pts feel no pain but are unstable in the ankle, some are stable but feel pain within the joint, and some even have both. There are treatment options for those 3 camps, seek a specialist consult for a more in-depth examination and advanced imaging to help hone in on the diagnosis.
