Ice pick headache: Sounds like you may have “ice pick headache, ” which is described as sharp, intense pain in the head or around the eye as if stabbed with an ice pick, lasting very briefly for a few seconds, not provoked by cough, straining or exercise, not associated with sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting, visual change, or tearing. Those who experience this type of headache often have a history of migraine.

OTC NSAIDS: Other possible causes of sharp pinging in your head include trigeminal neuralgia if the area of the pain is in the distribution of trigeminal nerve, including the front part of head, temple and face, only on one side. Trigeminal neuralgia can be triggered by mild stimulation like brushing. Other ones are cluster headache and chronic paroxysmal hemicrania. Try otc nsaids, and seek care if no relief.
