URI: URI. Usually viral. Supportive treatment with fluids, saline gargle, OTC pain meds. See MD if no improvement in 5-7 days or gets worse.

Get throat culture: Although you may have a viral event, you need to make sure you do not have a bacterial infection, as a STREP throat, as the latter would need antibiotic treatment.
