Infection ?: Maternal upper respiratory illness, sore throat, and other symptoms should be evaluated for streptococcal infection ( throat culture, etc.). Breast feeding is not going to transmit bacterial agents to your child, but careful hand washing prior to contact with the infant is necessary.
