Start RICEING .: The symptoms of a metatarsal fracture can vary person to person and on the degree of injury. Typically expect pain, swelling and redness. You will need x-rays to verify the extent of the injury. Immediate care should include Rest, Ice, Mild Compression and Elevation. (RICE). When you see the Doctor for management then you have been (RICED).

Signs/symptoms: Pain, swelling, and inability to walk w/o pain. Perhaps getting worse. The 2nd metatarsal is closer to the big toe side. X-rays may show the fracture.
