Cast/time: You should nave been given a removable cast after the diagnostic xray. You can walk short distances for special needs and after a reasonable period of time and after xrays show healing you can walk as you wish.

Which metatarsal?: And what was done for it? In a non-displaced fracture of the middle 3 metatarsals, you can walk right away if protected with a cast and/or surgical shoe. The 5th metatarsal is more difficult, depending on the location of the fracture, especially at the base of the bone. The 1st metatarsal is much more difficult to break, so if that's the one, you're more likely immobilized in a bigger way.
