Nerve pain?: While this could just be muscular (pulled muscle) the numbness is concerning for nerve involvement (pinched nerve?) if the pain is really that bad you should be seen as soon as possible. Given the symptoms you present your spine is of concern. Other possibilities include joint pain, arthritis etc. Or an internal pain that is referred to your ribs and back.
