A member asked:

Is separation from my one year old baby for one week can affect him emotionally, knowing that he will stay with his grandparents and he is used to it?

Not Long Term: In the long term, with loving caretakers there is no harm to him.He may show some short term changes in behavior such as eating or sleeping. This is due to changes in his routine while you are away.

Not a problem: Staying with grandparents and allowing for your baby to have new experiences will only benefit his/her social and emotional growth. The separation may be difficult at first but it is all part of the learning process for both child and parent.
