Sometimes: Probably was tartar (calculus) chipping off. The presence of calculus means you need to have your teeth professionally cleaned.

A 21-year-old member asked:

What will it be like during my hospital stay after radiation plaque therapy?

Dr. Andrew Turrisi

Boring!: As ssume cobalt 60 placque for ocular melanoma, but you are hospitalized so the radiation does not expose others to the radiotherapy that you are receiving medically. Check with your doctors, but your visitors will be few, far and there for short periods to avoid their exposure, so you will be alone, and need to have talking books, music and distraction. Very few physical effects.
A 28-year-old member asked:

How do I have all the other arteries check to see if any plaque is building up or blockage?

Various modalities: There are non-invasive tests to look for blockages such as stress echocardiography (stress test w/ultrasound imaging), nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging (nuclear medicine imaging), cardiac ct and MRI (mri is still investigational for coronary anatomy). Gold standard examination requires invasive cardiac catheterization with dye injected into the arteries (or ultrasound) and imaged.
A 35-year-old member asked:

Which is better for cleaning-- waterpik or flossing?

Flossing: While waterpiks are good and do a decent job, nothing is better than flossing when it comes to cleaning between the teeth. That physical contact disrupts all the bacteria and stops them from building up.
A 35-year-old member asked:

Is flossing really important in dental hygeine?

Yes: Flossing well daily takes only minutes and is the only way to remove the invisible bacterial film (plaque) that is responsible for tooth decay between teeth and gum disease. There is no other disease which affects over 90% of the population, but which is largely preventable for less than $10 per year, but that is the case for gum disease and many patients just don't want to accept that fact.
