A member asked:

Is a salty taste in the mouth normal during pregnancy? what can be done to reduce the taste of salt in the mouth during pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

LessInThe2ndTrimeste: Pregnancy can be associated with "dysgeusia," the "bad taste problem," maybe caused by high estrogen levels. It's more common than you might think and can result in no taste or an altered taste, like metallic or bitter or salty. It's said that adding sour will stimulate taste buds. So does MSG. Baking Soda mouthwash, brushing teeth and tongue and frequent rinsing with water will help somewhat.
