How can you tell the difference between costcochondritis and pleurisy?

Difficult to tell: sometimes. Fever, pain on respiration, and pleuritic rub favor pleurisy. Local tenderness favors costochondritis. More importantly, yo need to make sure that it is not pulmonary embolism, which is also sometimes difficult to tell.
