Is it safe to be a carrier of thalassaemia?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

It is what it is ...: Thalassemia is a number of inborn (genetic) disorders of hemoglobin (check out http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/thalassemia/ds00905 & http://www.Nhlbi.Nih.Gov/health/health-topics/topics/thalassemia/). Carries have just one gene while those w/full blown disorder have both. As a carrier, there're few clinical symptoms so it's "safe" for you, not that you could do anything about it!
