B/U method needed...: The first Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) injection is effectively right away if given in the first 5 days after a normal period starts. Starting it at any other time can be confusing. The best thing to do, if you didn't start during days 1-5, is to use another method, such as condoms for 3 weeks after your first injection.
