A member asked:

I am diabetic type 2, my last a1c sugar measurement was 5.9, what does that mean?

Good control: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, A1c level of 5.9 indicates good control of your blood sugar.

A1c 5.9: That means your control of blood sugar is OK. When are you checking your blood sugar? I recommend measuring your blood sugar every other morning before breakfast and bedtime blood sugar on the other evenings.
