Infection: It could be a tonsil infection that is spreading to the lymph node on that side or even to the deeper tissues in the back of the throat. If you have severe pain, trouble opening your mouth all the way, fever or it sounds like you have marbles in your mouth while you're talking then I would go to an urgent care now.
