Why when you move your hand in a cast can you hear a cracking noise?

Get checked out: Most casts should fit snug enough to not allow for significant movement as the purpose of a cast is to immobilize. If there is movement in a cast, then it is not functioning correctly and can lead to possible issues such as a loss of reduction or even skin breakdown.
