See your Dentist: Highest probability is that you have an abscesses (infected) tooth. Infected gums also a possibility. You really need to be examined by your Dentist to be properly diagnosed and treated. Know that tooth infections and gum infections do not self correct.

R/O TONSILLITIS : Tonsilar crypt trapping can cause chronic tonsillitis you need to have throat cultured and a full panel of blood work. Empiric antibiotics Also ENT CONSULT re tonsillectomy . The firm external sensation may be a secondary enlarged lymph node.
