A member asked:

If my anemia has gone undiagnosed 2 years or more could irrepairable damage have been done to my oxygen deprived heart muscle?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Anemia often produces symptoms before it can cause anyorgan damage. heart is quite sensitive to low oxygen and will produce symptoms of pain in the chest called angina which comes on physical strain and goes away on rest. Unless you have such symptoms of angina you have not risked your heart for any damage. What is your hemoglobin(HB) level? If it is >8 grams, you are not going to have any damage.
