X-Ray Exam: An x-ray study that allows full visualization of the upper and lower jaws would be recommended to reveal if you have an impacted or unerupted wisdom tooth, or if you even have a wisdom tooth or teeth.

Not erupted: It is not erupted fully into the mouth. Best bet is to see an oral surgeon who can examine you, take an xray, and make recommendations.

You can't: without X-ray you cannot know if you have impacted wisdom teeth. Sometimes you may notice symptoms of pain, pressure, swelling etc. but ultimately without imaging you will not tell if you have impacted wisdom teeth.

From x-ray: Go to your dentist and have the dentist examine your recent full mouth series of radiographs. If your wisdom teeth are deemed impacted, you may be referred to an oral surgeon for further evaluation and treatment.

Can you see it ?: If not, it is impacted (covered by bone and/or gum tissue. A radiograph will determine if it is horizontal in nature. See an oral surgeon for advice.

Simple: Ask your Dentist or an Oral Surgeon, the persons best trained and experienced to answer your question. Don't try to diagnose yourself.
