Yes but...: Ambien (zolpidem) may help but perhaps ibuprofen 600-800mg 3x/day should help. Sleep will return on its own. If you take Ambien (zolpidem), it's meant for only a few days, not long term. Also, risk of dependency and side effects always seem minimized by providers. May want to be on the lookout for such things.

Treat pain.: If you can't sleep because of the pain, then your pain needs to be controlled better. Call your doc, and see what other options you have. Maybe adding Tylenol (acetaminophen) between the ibuprofen would help, if you can take it. Maybe your dosage of ibuprofen can be adjusted or a different medicine used. Call the surgeon now. You need to be able to sleep properly in order to heal.
