Depends: Gabapentin is not typically prescribed for anxiety and depression as a primary diagnosis. It is an anticonvulsant medication used to control seizures. It is also used off-label for bipolar disorder as a mood stabilizer, lessening depression symptoms. It may be helpful in anxiety disorders, but often in combination with more typical anti-anxiety medications. Hope this helps.

It does for some: You are already taking medications for these symptoms. If you still suffer, discuss w/ doctor and seek alternatives together. Also, add CBT therapy to optimize results - it works best that way!

Possibly: Gabapentin seems to be helpful to some people for anxiety, although it is not a primary treatment for anxiety. It is unlikely to help for depressiion.

Indirectly: Agree with previous comments. There are some with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, or neuropathic-type pain, who respond very well to gabapentin. If such a chronic condition is contributing to one's depressed state or anxiety, and symptoms are alleviated with treatment, depressive symptoms may improve also. But there is no direct biochemical pathway by which gabapentin treats depression or anxiety.
