What are the leading causes of depression and anxiety in women?
1 doctor answer • 5 doctors weighed in
Multiple: Risk for developing depression & anxiety may involve the combination of multiple genes with environmental and other factors. Family history of depression & anxiety is commonly found with women w/these disorders, but isn't a hard or fast rule. Losing a parent before age 10, hormonal changes throughout life, current losses, medical illnesses, & life & relationship stresses all can contribute.

Which came first -: the chicken or the egg?? Depression and anxiety are often co-morbid conditions. Additionally many people have "anxious depressions". One can cause the other to worsen. Take care.
