Not exactly: Sotalol belongs to a class of medications called beta-blockers. True allergic reactions to beta blockers are uncommon. A person with asthma who takes a beta blocker may have an asthma attack. Taking a beta blocker medication will NOT increase the risk to develop allergies (food, medication, bee sting, latex, pollen, pet dander, etc.)
