Staph infection: Staph infections, if not treated promptly and effectively can cause significant "morbidity", loss of tissue or an entire limb, and yes, even "mortality". A wound of the size mentioned, with such pain and vomiting is by definition infected, and treatment is not urgent, but emergent. Get to a doctor or the ER immediately
