Anti-inflammatories: Corticosteroids, one of hormones produced by the adrenal gland, are strong anti-inflammatories. They are available as pills, syrups, injections and by IV. Most often they are used to reduce swelling and inflammation that may cause cancer pain. They also be of help in controlling side effects, including nausea and vomiting, caused by chemotherapeutic drugs. Use needs careful monitoring by doctor.
