Flu like syndrome: It sounds like you have a flu like syndrome. If your cough worsens and is productive of greenish or yellowish phlegm you may need an antibiotic. If your fever gets greater than 103 and your cough worsens and you develop chest pain especially when you take a deep breath you should have a chest Xray to rule out pneumonia. Neck stiffness can also be serious and implies possible meningitis.

It sounds like cold: Take otc tylenol (acetaminophen) and cough medication. Hydrate yourself. If fever goes further up and develop additional symptoms like shortness of breath or wheezing see your doctor for an exam. If can not get a hold of your doctor go to an urgent care center to get checked.
