Be Careful: The maximum safe dosage per day is 800 mg per dose or 3200 mg. per day. 1200 mg is more than you should take in a single dose. We have found that 600 mg. each 6 hours with an interim dose of acetaminophen not to exceed the recently lowered daily recommendation is slightly better than some narcotic meds with many fewer side effects. Overdosing is a significant risk. Follow your prescription!!

No: The current daily Maximum is 2400 mg Ibuprofen which can be taken in 4 600 mg doses or 3 800 mg. These dosings are considered prescription strength and should only be done under doctor direction. 1200 mg all at once would be considered overdosing. If the pain is breaking through normal Ibuprofen dosing this is a sign to see your dentist ASAP.

Not recommended: The maximum amount of ibuprofen for adults is 800 milligrams per dose or 3200 mg The OTC painkiller may provide some relief until you can get to your dentist. Remember, toothache pain will not go away on its own and dental treatment is a must.
