Commitment: People can enter a mental or psychiatric hospital voluntarily or involuntarily at any age. Voluntary means you agree to sign in to get help with your problems. Involuntary means a person is an immediate danger to self or others and can be coerced by two physicians signing paperwork to enter a mental institution against their will.
