Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes are an important for the proper functioning of your immune system. They make lymphocytes which help defend the body against microorganisms and harmful foreign particles. Persistent lymphadenopathy, or swollen glands, requires further investigation, including biopsy to rule out more serious causes. It is important to see your doctor and have an exam if you have any persistant lumps.
