Nerve pain: The type of pain you describe, usually results from entrapment of nerve at cervical spinal area. See your doctor for an assessment and some imaging studies if pain is persisting beyond a couple of weeks. Most beneficial in such scenarios would be to get physical therapy, which your doctor would do after making sure there is nothing else going on.

Nervous system: Likely a peripheral nerve is irritated, inflamed or "entrapped/compressed in ligament, tendon or bone is most likely. These typically get better by themselves with simply resting the affected extremity, NSAIDS, splinting/wrapping are options.
