See doctor: a firm diagnosis is needed to treat prolonged vaginal bleeding. Depending on your medical history and age, your doctor may want to obtain a sample of tissue lining the uterus. Please inform your doctor of the continued bleeding, as it can be associated with several conditions, some serious.

Provera (medroxyprogesterone): Usually the answer to stop bleeding is more estrogen. Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can be used but may not work well with a low dose and bleeding may resume when Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is stopped. 2-4 birth control pills a day may help some women. If medication fails, usually a D&C is performed where the lining of the uterus is surgically shed.
