5 days ago i had my appendix taken out. it's still swollen&painful to take steps as well as cough or sneeze. is this normal or could i have a hernia?

Open / Laproscopic ?: If it were an open appy then 5 days is not unreasonable. If laproscopic the may have a wound infection. Either way have your surgeon re-examine you ASAP

See surgeon : it can take 7days or more to fully heal but if pain is worsening, red, hot or any fever, call your surgeon.
