Swelling behind ear: Swelling & redness behind the ear with earache especially if associated with fever could be mastoiditis, it is urgent that you take him to his pediatrician ASAP or go to ER. Good luck.

Go see ur Family Doc: Your son might have a swollen postauricular lymph node in response to ear infection but w/o exam, I can't be absolutely sure. So best to take him to see his Family Doc or Pediatrician for evaluation. In meantime, warm compresses might be helpful.
