Metformin: I usually titrate metformin dosage, based on the diabetes blood test called a A1C. I usually in the office start patients on metformin 500mg once a day. and check the A1C in a months time. If I still am not controlling the patients diabetes, then I will increase it to 500mg twice a day, and so forth. I suggest you follow up with your PCP, and get the A1C checked, and obtain there opinion.

Is it sort acting: or time released metformin? It is best to check with her doctor to see how they want her to take them.
