Yes: The itch is caused by a skin reaction (dermatitis) to the glue like substance the eggs are deposited in around the anal cleft.It is not in response to the movement of the worm. Such reactions also occur to fecal material, germs,food allergies, soaps, scented toilet tissue, etc.Just because you have anal itch does not mean you have PW and treatment for the wrong assumption is rarely helpful
