Probably OK: It depends in part on the exact test you had. With new HIV infection, most of the standard HIV tests are positive within 6-8 weeks, so probably you're home free. "Fourth generation" tests, also called "duo" or "combo" tests, are conclusive any time after 4 weeks. For a "third generation" antibody test, 6-8 weeks. Official advice often says 3 months, but usually not necessary to wait that long.
