A member asked:

During the ct scan for painful swollen lymph nodes my arms were above my head and not in the ct scan machine at all so how do they tell something is wrong with my lymph nodes if they didnt scan the area that is in pain? all the blood work the oncologist d

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No nodes in arms: There are no lymph nodes to speak of in your arms, so they don't need to be imaged. Also, before you're scanned the tech runs a scout film that shows them what's to be scanned so they can make sure the area of concern is in the field.
