Gastroesophageal: reflux (GER) frequently causes heart burn and nausea. Try taking OTC acid blocker, eg. Prilosec or Nexium, (esomeprazole) or Zantac. Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol; all of which lower the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter. The LES is a valve that prevents reflux of stomach contents which are very acidic up into the esophagus which has a delicate lining. Longterm damage can result.
