Muscle strain: Muscle strain is a tear of the muscle fibers. This will heal on its own in about 2 weeks as long as you don't reinjure it. Take ibuprofen when there is pain and do LIGHT stretching to prevent the muscle from tightening down during healing. But it must be done gently! Remember, when recovering from a strain, if it hurts, don't do it.
