Ear tubes: You kinda already asked for a second opinion. Your pediatrician has been actively treating the child's ear infections and referred to the ENT for their expert assessment and opinion and given the information provided by parents as well as the primary doc the ENT has recommended tubes. Of course you can always get another opinion and if you are at all hesitant you should. Good luck.

Ritual of childhood: 100% of infants get ear infections by age 2 and some get 5 or more a year or won't clear after 90 days of abx use. Tubes are a simple transitional treatment. They suck the nasty mucous that is sometimes as thick as axle grease from behind the ear drum and put the tubes in to protect the ear for months, allowing the ears to dry out and hearing to return. You may need more info, not more opinions.
