Many causes: There are many causes for irregular periods. Take a pregnancy test if there is any chance of pregnancy. If not then stress, hormonal shifts or thyroid issues can cause spotting and irregular periods. If you have been regular up to now it should straighten out in a few months. If this does not resolve see your doctor for an exam and some testing.
