Irregular period: It is not uncommon for young women to have irregular periods from time to time. Can be caused by stress, fatigue and recent illness. If you had unprotected sex, you could have been pregnant and then miscarried, but less likely if you did not miss a period. You can have your doctor do a test called quantitative HCG - levels are measured during pregnancy. The level will drop if you miscarried.

Cannot say: cannot say in your particular case, but generally, variation in periods is a bit more common than miscarriages (though both are common).

Pregnant?: If you have a positive pregnancy test, it could have been spotting with implantation. Miscarriage is usually heavy bleeding after missed period and having positive pregnancy test. Pregnancy test is best done with first morning urination. Best of luck.
