Serious diagnosis: Stage 4 colon cancer has a very poor prognosis. No one can give you a life expectancy that is exact. It depends upon her response to the treatment. Some people respond very well. Of all people that have this diagnosis only about 8% of them are still alive at 5 years. But still she could be one of that 8%. I hope she responds well to the treatments.

No cure, but...: While there is no cure, and only a small minority of patients w/ stage 4 colorectal cancer are still alive 5 years after diagnosis, these are statistics, and your mum is not a statistic, but an individual, thus no prediction is possible. Chemotherapy these days for colorectal cancer is plentiful, and better tolerated than before. Ask about other meds if this is not tolerated well. Hope this helps!
