Incorrect: Your imagination is running wild. The drilling is minimal and controlled, making a prep only a few millimeters wide and deep. Your dentist / periodontist / oral surgeon is well versed in the procedure. If you are that anxious about the procedure (and concerned about types of sedation) why don't you just get put to sleep and be done with it? You'll feel a whole lot better and so will your surgeon.

Drilling sequence: Every dental implant system has a unique drilling sequence. However, dental implant procedure is the least uncomfortable procedure in oral surgery. It requires minimum amount of local anesthetic and the follow-up discomfort can be well controlled with NSAIDs or Tylenol (acetaminophen) OTC.

Sorry to disappoint: Sorry to disappoint you , but not likely to happen. The site preparation with the sequential drills is very straightforward, not sensitive, and will take less than 5 minutes -- in the experienced hands of a well-trained specialist. Takes longer to get anesthesia and suture afterwards. Best of luck -- you should be pleasantly surprised. (ask to speak with others who have had it done )
