A member asked:

Have a deep aching feeling around my knee on my left leg. i have no known risk factors, but i am worried about a dvt. or could it be menstural related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neither: DVT would not affect your knee. If present, it would affect your calf. Menstrual symptoms don't affect the knees either. You have some form of arthritis. Common causes in your age group (27) are chondromalaciae patellae, torn meniscus, and infection. If it's not getting better, an examination with aspiration of fluid (it doesn't hurt!) and injection of a steroid may provide great relief.
