Concerns: review your case with your prescribing doctor and ask about the pros and cons. No one wants to take medication if it isn't necessary. So many infections are caused by viruses. All the best.

Don't be: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a bit overkill for Strep. I't's almost always responsive to Zpack and regular 'cillins. Perhaps, if you got pneumonia soon after finishing Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate), your doctor was concerned about resistance to Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). Zpack and its cousins are recommended for community-acquired pneumonia, some of which are resistant to penicillin . Hope u get well soon.
