Is a concussion more serious than a contusion? or are they about the same? i hit my head at work and doctor told me it was "just a contusion".

See Dr.: See a physician if u continue to have pain ; headaches, confusion ... Even if u have difficulty concentrating w/ in next 24 hrs see physician. Not all ' bangs on the head' are as serious as concussions but occassionally they are worse...( epidural / subdural hematomas, intracerebral bleeds etc.)...These are much less infrequent but see md if sx's persist..!

Concussion/contusion: Concussion is a brain injury and is to be taken seriously to avoid long term complications, however a contusion is a more minor injury that may result in a bruise. You may have a knot and point tenderness for awhile but it will get better with time.
