Damaged valve?: Guidelines have changed. We are doing much less premedication today. Type of braces doesn't matter. Ck with your cardiologist and your orthodontist to see if premedication required.

For what?: Premedication for prophylaxis against cardiac problems has evolved over the years, and we use pre-medication less and less. The only time it is needed is when blood is involved. Almost all orthodontic procedures do not involve under the gum work (the exception fitting and placing bands on back teeth), so it is usually not required. Ask your cardiologist for their recommendation. Any brace system.
